Painting is an age old art form that has stood

Painting is an age old art form that has stood the test of time over the centuries. Oil paint is among the challenging and rewarding mediums that an artist can use in this realm. While some artists are que apprehensive about taking up this particular type of painting, others know that there is no other approach that offers the richness and texture of oil paint.

Beginning oil painting can seem a ltle overwhelming but once you get started, you will not look back. There is good reason that oil paint has been around for so very long. This medium is que pliable and surprisingly forgiving compared to other types of paint. You may find that you lean more and more towards using oil paint above others once you master some key steps to the process.

The first thing to clarify is that this type of paint is que different from others. Oil paint does not dry as quickly as s counterparts. This makes revisions and changes possible while you are in the middle of the project. Of course, the painting takes longer to dry in the end but is well worth the wa.

Another thing to consider is that oil paint can be used to create amazing texture in the piece. This is not a completely unique feature as the same type of textures can be produced with some acrylics. However, the very nature of oil paint makes remarkably unusual in visual feeling.

Oil paint offers unbelievable color, too. I recommend starting off with some exercises that will help you develop an understanding of varying hues whin a color. Begin by using the primary colors and add whes to lighten the color into different shades. Also, consider what the colors look like when they are dried before commting to a project.

It has been my experience that oil paint is best sued for realistic paintings. However, many abstract pieces of art have derived from this outstanding medium. I like to use the oil paint for realistic scenes because the paint is workable. I know I can come back to later and make changes.

The oil paint colors are que natural, too. It is easy to create depth and realistic shades using this type of medium. Artists can use paint thinner to loosen and lighten the color and they can add volume and richness by piling layer after layer of oil paint on the canvas.

If you are interested in painting then oil paint should be on the top of your list. This medium is works wonders on the canvas and you may find that learning how to use takes less time and effort than you imagined.
