Yummy And Safe Shrimp Platters

Each year for Christmas Eve we visit with my husbands side of our family. There are many traditions, and just one of those is that there are shrimp platters each year. This was something that his grandmother started, and even though she is no longer with us, we still do it each time the family gets together for Christmas celebrations. Not only are these tasty, they are also something that most enjoy, and they do go a long way no matter how much people love to eat shrimp.

What is great about shrimp platters is that though most people love to have shrimp, many of them will limit how much they have. They can go for a few and feel like they are done, and that always leaves enough for everyone. Shrimp platters that seem to be just too small for the gathering are actually the right size. That doesnt mean you cant have more, but you dont have to stress too much if it appears that you may run short. People also realize how expensive shrimp can be, and they understand without complaint when it runs out.

When you make shrimp platters, you can find some great shrimp supplies in your local store, but you may get the best deal if you shop at a warehouse club. You can also find some good suppliers online that send you want you need in safe packaging that gets to you on the right day. Either way, you want to have the larger shrimp if you can, as these work the best for shrimp platters. Dont forget to get a good cocktail sauce. You dont want something to wimpy, but you dont want to the bite to be too much for the little ones.

Though you wont normally have worries when it comes to keeping shrimp platters safe, there are a few things you should do. It should never be left sitting out for too long, as the heat can make the seafood go bad. You want to have the shrimp on ice on the platter, and you want to be sure to add some when it melts. Keep it cold before and after serving, and when it doubt, throw the shrimp platters away. There is no need to take any chances. Remember to wash the shrimp thoroughly as well, before serving and adding to tray. Most that come from companies are fine, but again, dont take any chances.
