My gang never used to have really good New Years Eve parties. No matter what happened, the party would usually be a disappointment. Sometimes we would try to get everyone together to go to a big New Years Event only to have it fall through at the last minute. The designated driver would get drunk early in the evening, someone's car would be in the shop, or we would even get the time of the event wrong. Other times, we would simply decide to have a quiet New Years Eve party at someone's house. It would work out alright, but than everyone would get maudlin and depressed, brooding and ruining the mood of new years.
Eventually, I got sick of these dud New Years Eve parties. I decided that we needed to start having really good bashes like in the old days. I took it upon myself to organize the festivities for the next New Years party, and my friends were more than eager to let me have the honor. After all, no one really wanted the job of me.
I investigated the different kinds of New Years Eve parties we could have. I thought about having a movie night or something like that for a while, but I figured we could have one of those any time. New Years events are for really cutting loose and having a great time. A New Years Eve party should be a little wild. Otherwise, it's just a party. I finally decided that we should do it up by having a fancy soire out on the coast. We found a public beach, staked out a secluded spot, and unpacked all our New Year supplies.
When you're having New Years Eve parties or any parties in general it is a great asset to know people who play music. In my circle of friends, almost everyone plays an instrument, so we already had our own new year's entertainment. Everyone pulled out a guitar, drum, bass, flute, or whatever, and we started to all play together. By midnight, we had really gotten the fire going, and the music was roaring almost as loud as the flames were. We all camped out on the beach, drunk as we could be, and having the time of our lives. Because we had a camping permit, we didn't have to worry about going home either. That meant that no one had to be the designated driver and stop partying early. All in all, it was a great event.
