Do You Know The Symptoms Of Insulin Resistance?

You may be walking around with a condition of which you are not aware. This can happen to those that have cancer and other life threatening conditions, but there are some that can cause other conditions later in life. Insulin resistance is not diabetes, but it can lead to it in the long run. There are many that have this without realizing it, and there are things that can be done to turn it around. If you can do that, you can avoid diabetes. Know if you have the symptoms of insulin resistance so you know if you have something to worry about or not.

One of the biggest symptoms of insulin resistance is a problem with carb loaded food. This might not be something that you realize is not normal if you have had the problem for a very long time. If you eat carbs in any form and feel light headed once you have finished your meal, you may have one of the symptoms of insulin resistance. The body is not registering that it is making insulin so it pumps out more and more. You are going to be more susceptible to being light headed and hungry again within an hour.

Another of the symptoms of insulin resistance is that you have problems with your monthly cycles. This is for women only, of course. Insulin resistance is something that often goes hand in hand with PCOS or polycystic ovarian syndrome. If you have one you probably have the other. The problems with insulin cause some imbalances in the body that lead to long cycles, having intermittent ovulation, or even infertility. If you have the symptoms of insulin resistance, and you have problems with your cycle, see your doctor for more advice on how you should proceed if you want to start a family.

If you ignore the symptoms of insulin resistance, you could end up with diabetes in the long run. This is because of the insulin overproduction that goes along with it. Because your body ignores it and makes more because it does not know it is there, you are going to find that your pancreas gives out and can not make any more insulin. When that happens, you have type II diabetes. Once that happens, there is no turning back.

However, if you have the symptoms of insulin resistance, there is something you can do before things get that far. First, you should talk with your doctor to find out if that is what you have. There are some medications that can help you out if they are safe for you to take. You can also start a special lower carb diet that can reverse the symptoms of insulin resistance and can also change your life. If you are overweight, as are most with insulin resistance, this diet can also work miracles for you when all other diet plans have failed.
