Places to Visit in Paris

Everyone has that one friend who is filled with more or less helpful advice about everything. You know the one who always tells you what tourist attractions to see in every given city, what places to visit in Paris during your trip, how to get the best deal on a hotel in Monaco that sort of thing. I have a friend who considers himself a real world traveler, and in some ways he is not mistaken. He really has traveled a lot, but from his travel stories I don't know if he is the best judge of the best places to see. He seems to get into more trouble than it is worth and, although he always ends up with good stories to tell, I would just as soon have an uneventful but highly successful vacation.

So when we're planning a trip to Paris France, I decided to not ask about places to visit in Paris. I figured that I would do alright on my own. I already knew to see Notre Dame Paris, the Eiffel Tower, the Champs Elysees - you get the idea. I had already compiled my list of the top 10 places to visit in Paris, and was working on another 50. I figure that between that and wandering around on my own, I would have a pretty full, fun filled vacation.

Still, before I went I figured that one more opinion would not matter. I asked him about places to visit in Paris. I figured that, if his advice did not sound fine, I wouldn't have to follow it. Although he told me about a lot of interesting things there, Some of it sounded a little bit sketchy or outdated. He hadn't been there in 20 years, and I was pretty sure the city had changed a lot since then. Nonetheless, a lot of the best places to visit in Paris are not on tourist maps. There are small bistros, scenic overlooks, and things like that. You really need an experienced tour guide or at least someone who has traveled in the city a little bit to tell you about it. A Paris sightseeing tour can help, but it is no substitute for the advice of an expert. I did having a wonderful vacation thanks in large part to the advice my friend gave me. I wouldn't say that I won't distrust him again, but I will certainly give him the benefit of the doubt. Some of his advice is really solid.
