UCLA Film School

The movie industry is a fiercely competitive one and gaining qualifications is a recognized route into this exciting world. The UCLA Film School has an excellent reputation and is a part of the only institution in the United States to offer Theatre, Film and TV studies. Movie heritage is a valued part of UCLA Film School. The UCLA Film and Television Archive holds 220,000 film and television titles and is an important resource, larger than at any other University. The school's exhibition space screens films and videos from the archive.

This unique educational establishment is not just concerned with the classroom. It owns The Geffen Playhouse, so named following a large donation of money by the film producer and record company chief, David Geffen. It is a respected theatre whose stage productions attract a host of talented actors and actresses. Past performers include Peter Falk, Carrie Fisher, Alicia Silverstone, and Martin Short. The theatre stages five plays each season on the main stage with more plays hosted in a smaller space.
