There is something fun and something a bit scary about the satellite images of Earth that you can find online these days. What is amazing is that though these images are not really in real time, they can be updated every few years, and that may change any time soon. The ones that you see in some places are years old, but you may find very new ones when you look in larger, urban areas. You could spend hours looking around the globe for things that you want to see.
You can start out with finding satellite images of Earth in relation to where you live. If you live in a rural area, you may not see much, but the coverage is rather good in most places. You can add your address to see if the images can come up for you. You can look at these satellite images of Earth from up high, or you can zoom in with in a few hundred feet of your own home. When I did this, I could see my car parked out back, and I could also see some things about my neighbors. I could tell when the picture was taken by some details that I saw.
You can also zoom in on anything else in the world. If you want to see satellite images of Earth that include the pyramids, or perhaps the Sydney Opera House, you can do that rather easily. You may have to search around, but you can see many neat things through satellite images of Earth that you may never get a chance to see in person throughout your lifetime. Its not the same, of course, but it can be a rather remarkable experience. Places we have never seen are almost like a dream, but seeing the satellite images can make them more real to you.
What can be scary about these satellite images of Earth is how close they can come to your home. As of the present time, most images are at least a few years old, so immediate spying is not really an issue. However, if you are having problems with some stalking you, or you simply want to keep your life and your home private, this can feel like an invasion. There are many phone listings online that allow you to opt out of being listed simply because they offer these images with your address, and many feel that this is just too much information for just anyone to find.
