Do You Need A Queen Size Mattress?

I remember when I was first with my husband, we fit snuggly in a twin size bed and were quite comfortable sleeping that way. As the years went on, we went on to a full size mattress, as we found that as nice as snuggling with each other might be, we wanted to have a little more space. We have used that size for a very long time, but we are now thinking that we might want to move on to a queen size mattress so that we have more space and comfort each night. You may want to do the same thing if you are sleeping on something smaller.

Though the queen size mattress is not too much bigger than the full size, the difference can make a huge change in your sleeping patterns. This can give you just a few more inches of space, and sometimes that is all people need. There are some people who sleep with their hands and arms crossed behind their heads, as they find that to be very comfortable, but that does not always work out with a full size mattress. Someone could get a black eye. A queen size mattress can eliminate this problem for most people who sleep in such a manner.

If you have children, you may also want to consider moving up to a queen size mattress. Though it is not wise to have young babies and children in the bed at night because they could succumb to SIDS that way, they can want to crawl in with you when they are awake and you are spending time together, or when they get older if they are scared in the middle of the night. Those extra inches can make it more comfortable for everyone. If you have a larger family, you may even want to go as high as the king size mattress.

You could also see the advantages of a queen size mattress if you have dogs that you allow to sleep in your bed. If they are large dogs, they can take up quite a bit of space. If you find that you are waking up in odd positions with pain in your body from sleeping funny, and your pet is the reason why, you can always change that with the queen size mattress. If you have two large dogs, go for the king sized. Some dogs can sprawl out and move you when you are sleeping, even when you are not aware of it. This might just cure that aching back even if you dont realize why you have it.

Remember that you are going to have to buy a whole new set of sheets and bedding when you buy a queen size mattress. You are also going to have to decide what you are going to do with your old mattress. If you have older children, and your bed is still in good shape, you could always pass it down. When its old and battered, most companies will take away your old bedding when you have the new delivered. Also remember that you are going to lose some space in your bedroom when you go with the queen size mattress, but for most, it is not a huge issue.
